Technical Details for Each Arrangement
His Eye is On the Sparrow is a beautiful reminder of Jesus’s words that if He cares for the sparrows, He cares for us. While I begin it with a heartfelt arrangement, I leaned into a more playful, free feeling for “I sing because I’m happy.”
- Note Reading: treble clef A3 to D6, bass clef C2 to D4
- Rhythm: sixteenth notes (melody only), eighth notes, quarter notes, dotted quarter notes, dotted half notes
- Time Signature: 6/8
- Technical aspects: dynamics, flats, ties, scale progression
- Verses: 2
- Right hand single-note melody
- Left hand broken triads and open fifths
It Is Well With My Soul is the Christian standard hymn of comfort. While I have arranged it several times, I love this version because it is simple yet beautiful. I will never grow tired of reminding myself, like the Psalmist David did, that it can be well with my soul because of my hope in God.
- Note Reading: treble clef G3 to C6, bass clef D2 to C4
- Rhythm: eighth notes, quarter notes, dotted quarter notes, half notes, dotted half notes, whole notes
- Time Signature: 4/4
- Technical aspects: dynamics, ties
- Verses: 2
- Right hand single-note melody
- Left hand in treble clef
- Left hand broken chords and running “2” chords
Blessed Assurance holds dear memories for me. In my early twenties, I was part of a church association where multiple churches would gather to sing, and this was one of the hymns. Though I could not capture the essence of three hundred voices singing it, I do hope the meaning of the words have been captured.
- Note Reading: treble clef C4 to C6, bass clef G1 to D4
- Rhythm: eighth notes, quarter notes, dotted quarter notes, dotted half notes
- Time Signature: 9/8
- Technical aspects: dynamics, sharps, ties, fermata
- Verses: 2
- Right hand single-note melody
- Left hand open fifths
Nearer, My God, To Thee captures my history-loving heart, knowing that it was sung on the Titanic. Sometimes, our trials can feel like the Titanic in our lives, yet we can be assured that if we are a child of God, He is near to us. I tried to capture this peace in my arrangement.
- Note Reading: treble clef G3 to C6, bass clef C2 to E4
- Rhythm: eighth notes, quarter notes, half notes, dotted half notes, whole notes
- Time Signature: 4/4
- Technical aspects: dynamics, 8va, syncopation
- Verses: 3
- Right hand single-note melody
- Left hand in treble clef
- Left hand broken chords and open 5th/6ths
What a Friend We Have in Jesus is one of those hymns that can easily be sung upbeat or more thoughtful. I chose a setting that is solidly in the middle. It begins with an moving left hand melody that switches to the right hand and maintains a bright mood.
- Note Reading: treble clef G3 to B4, bass clef C2 to C4
- Rhythm: eighth notes, quarter notes, half notes, dotted half notes, whole notes
- Time Signature: 4/4
- Technical aspects: dynamics, ties, flats, sharps, 8vb
- Verses: 3
- Right hand single-note melody
- Right hand cluster chords
- Left hand single-note melody
- Left hand broken chords and open 5th/6ths
Personal Note From the Arranger
As I arranged this collection, it struck me as beautiful how we can have genuine hope in Jesus Christ not only for eternal life, but for today. Though God may not remove our trials from us, He will walk beside us and never leave or forsake us.
I pray that these hymns of comfort are a balm to your soul in hard days and a peaceful reminder in calm days.

I thought the piano solos were great and easy to follow.
I love it! Sounds really pretty and its easy to read!!
Too many pages to print and place on piano stand. 2 pages is best, 3 pages is okay. The music is good to play. Thank you!
I started practicing and I'm loving it and praying to the Lord Jesus for wisdom. God bless!
I enjoyed song arrangements because were easy to play.
